Illinois State Police Officer commits suicide

Illinois State Police officer Joshua Newnam, age 25, was found about 12:45 p.m. Tuesday with a gunshot wound to the head in a field near the intersection of Huntley and Boyer roads in unincorporated Kane County, near Carpentersville.
He first was taken to St. Joseph Hospital in Elgin and then was flown to Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, according to a news release from the Illinois State Police.
Joshua Newnam was with the Illinois State Police for a year and was assigned to District 15 Patrol.

Albany New York -- A man killed in Niskayuna killed his girlfriend's estranged husband and then killed himself with a shotgun blast to the head as he drove past police who were dispatched to arrest him.
